Dr. Richard Isaacson joined NBC News Daily With Kate Snow to discuss the latest advances in Alzheimer’s prevention and early detection, while sharing practical, evidence-based strategies that can help support lifelong brain health. During the conversation, he highlighted the promise of emerging blood-based biomarkers, the importance of healthy lifestyle habits, and why there is more reason than ever to be hopeful about the future of Alzheimer’s care.

Discussing the next generation of Alzheimer’s diagnostics, Dr. Isaacson explained how a more comprehensive approach to testing could provide people with a clearer understanding of their brain health.

“There’s no one perfect test for Alzheimer’s. If you look at the panel—is there inflammation? Is there degeneration? Is there this sticky protein called amyloid? We’re going to take a whole holistic sense of this and then be able to give that person feedback.”

He also reminded viewers that protecting brain health starts with everyday choices, emphasizing that prevention is about combining multiple healthy habits over time.

“There’s so many things you can do. You can exercise on a regular basis, eat a brain-healthy Mediterranean-style diet. You have to mind your sleep, mind your blood pressure, your cholesterol. Bring that blood sugar down… There are so many things to do.”
